Went to Weymout with Sev on board Bon Wey, hoping for a trip to the Race or Shambles, and a spot of reef fishing.
We soon realised the trip was going to be bad!!
5 other anglers on board all seeming content to reef fish, mmmmmmm not good.
Anyhoo upshot was I had 3 Black Bram new species for me, a few poor Cod another newie, and a load of Pout, pollock or 2 also.
On the whole not impressed!!, rich fishing grounds and we stop on a reef, NEVER AGAIN!!!
Up at 5.30 went to Meadfoot with a handfull of plugs dertimed to get a bass.
2 hour later and not a touch!!!
Weymouth charted tomorrow got to get something there surely!!
Got some live prawns the night before, woke up in the morning and they were all dead!!
Went to EP on a TBR quest, armed with dead prawn, Rag, squid, peeler and black lug.
One poxy bass all day!!
Arrived nice and early with a load of groundbait.
Every drop produced a small pollock, goby or wrasse, no Mullet.
I kept some pollock and used as live bait for bass agan nothing.
Tried floating with mackerel for mackies/gars nothing but tiny pollock again!!
Took Sis in law to see if we could get a Bass on Eels.
No Sandeels available, and no Bass on the White Eel method.
Determind to get her a fish on We went to BP and tried a Dexter, Bullet and even tried the dreaded feathers and not a bloody touch!!
Went to Shaldon with white eels on low water for 1.5 hours not a jot, only saw 1 Bass caught of about 1lb.
Picked up Neil at 6pm and met Keir at secret Bass loacation armed with Peeler plugs and spinners, Keir had 2 tiny bass on one bait on each Pennel hook.
Neil had a couple of Mackies on Sabikis and 2 tiny Bass on them too.
I had one equally tiny Bass on a Dexter, a few knoks on the Peeler but nothing else!!
Weed was racing through but still a pleasent evening.
Went in hunt of Gars but no joy, only saw one Mackerel caught too.
Gotta catch something soon surely!!
Took “The Gimp” out for the first time this year headed to Meadfoot but a bit breezy to say the least!!
Went to Greenway quay and just inflated it an it pissed down, we hung on and went for about 2 hours more of a boat trip than a fish bit slung out a Dexter, Maria Chase BW and White eel bit no bites but we didnt care great to be out on our little boat again.
Took the good lady Mrs Putty for Fish and Chips at the Start Bay Inn we arrived about 18:30 so I thought I would have an hours spin before we had our dinner.
I rigged up a Dexter and a single Sabiki Teaser and had 6 or so Mackies and after about 3 casts this fine speciem.
About 10″ long didnt weigh it though and put him back, would have used it as a live bait but knew dinner was calling.
